False Flags

False flags are covert operations carried out by government agencies, like the CIA, to deceive the public. The goal is to create fear in order to justify new legislation, or war.
The term is derived from ships sailing with an enemy flag in order to blend in before attacking. The aggressor is often portrayed as the victim as well, with governments staging attacks on their own people.
