Joseph (Joe) Gerard Calabrese Sr was born December 6th, 1961, and passed away on June 6th, 2019, at the age of 57. Joe was a Veteran NYPD Detective of Brooklyn South Side Homicide Squad.

His death is one of many in the New York Police Department. Steven Silks was found dead in his car the day before Joe went missing.

Plumb Beach

The body of Joe Calabrese was found laying in some bushes near Plumb Beach, New York (map). After visiting his wife in the hospital, following a minor procedure, he left around 2 am Thursday morning.

He did not show up for work, and a large manhunt began, including over 100 officers. His car was found separately, parked in the area.

His death was quickly labeled a suicide, and investigations were closed. He had a gunshot wound in his head.
